James is a criminal practitioner who both prosecutes and defends in the Magistrates Court and Crown Court. He has acted for both Appellant and Respondent in the Court of Appeal and the Privy Council. In recent years he has been involved in a number of cases that have been reported nationally. He is experienced in all aspects of confiscation having both made and resisted applications in excess of one million pounds.

James is recognised for having a personable approach with both professional and lay clients. His sensitivity and down to earth approach, when combined with an ability to think quickly ‘on his feet’, makes him an effective and successful trial advocate. He is proud of the fact that he is recognised as an advocate who identifies and focuses on the essential elements of any case in which he is involved. It is this ability to simply get to the point that endears him to both juries and judges alike.

It is his approachable, simple and effective approach that means he is often identified as the ‘go to’ advocate in cases involving sensitive issues and vulnerable witnesses.
